Archipelago

Archipelago is a recent arrival in the Drupal-based open-source digital repository space. Designed by the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO) with collection-owners' needs in mind, Archipelago has a fast-growing community of open-source developers and involved institutions. Archipelago’s unique data structure provides a high-degree of flexibility for display and sharing metadata.
Born-Digital offers a customizable Archipelago theme, based on a custom theme developed for the California Revealed Digital Library.

Centered on Metadata

Archipelago features built-in tools that facilitate creation of complex, interoperable metadata display and serialization. It avoids hard coded data models, giving collection owners freedom to manage metadata on their own terms.

Built for Multi-Tenancy

Archipelago supports multiple communities in a single instance, giving each tenant localized control over search, roles, and theme elements, while also supporting unified discovery and economies of scale.
