How do you build an out-of-the-box theme that respects the unique needs of individual institutions while providing economies of scale and convenience to a range of users? Born-Digital teamed up with Lyrasis and Whitman College to find the answer. Over the course of the project, Born-Digital built and customized a new Drupal theme and supported the migration of the Whitman College collections from Islandora 7 into a new Islandora 2.0 instance. This work was funded in part by IMLS.

Out-of-the-Box Ready, Designed for Customization
In collaboration with Born-Digital and Lyrasis, the Penrose Library team blazed a trail for Islandora 7 to Islandora 2.0 migrations. Our team designed a Bootstrap-based theme tailored to support institutions like Whitman who need a clean, modern, turnkey repository solution that can be lightly customized to meet their needs.
Customized for Enhanced Accessibility
Custom features were developed to improve the accessibility of Arminda’s collections. A convenient tab on text object pages provides access plain text files derived through optical character recognition (OCR), while audio files can be displayed right alongside a downloadable transcript.
